GOD     LOVE
IS

"HE THAT LOVETH NOT
KNOWETH NOT GOD,
FOR GOD IS LOVE"
I John 4:8
V

The Bible reveals three attributes of God that describe His moral character, and in each of the attributes He is perfect.  The first is: GOD IS TRUTH.  Jesus said, "I am the way, the TRUTH and the life."  John 14:6.  TRUTH is revealed in God's truthfulness and faithfulness.  He is altogether trustworthy.  "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee, THE ONLY TRUE GOD, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." John 17:3.  "He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all His ways are judgment: A GOD OF TRUTH and without iniquity, just and right is he." Deuteronomy 32:4  "Thou hast redeemed me, O LORD GOD OF TRUTH." Psalms 31:5.  "Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; and thy FAITHFULNESS reached unto the clouds." Psalms 36:5.

The second attribute is: GOD IS HOLY. His holiness is revealed in His righteousness and justice.  God is perfect in righteousness.  In Him is no wickedness at all, nor does anything wicked originate in Him.  He is also absolutely just.  "There is no respect of persons with God." Romans 2:11.  God is holy in that He is the source and standard of right.  "Ye shall be holy; for I THE LORD YOUR GOD AM HOLY." Leviticus 19:2.  "Because it is written, Be ye holy, for I AM HOLY." I Peter 1:16.  "He shall judge the world with RIGHTEOUSNESS, and the people with his truth." Psalms 96:13.  Of the Messiah it is written, "And RIGHTEOUSNESS shall be the girdle of His loins, and FAITHFULNESS the girdle of His reins." Isaiah 11:5.

The third attribute is: GOD IS LOVE.  God's love is revealed in His goodness, kindness, mercy and grace.  Jesus Christ, visible revelation of God to the world, (John 1:18) manifested all these attributes of God to perfection as He lived among men.  Jesus revealed God's love.  "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him." I John4:9.  A similar verse is Romans 5;8, "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that , while we were yet sinners Christ died for us."

"If God loves everyone," some may ask, "then why does He send men to hell?"  I remember my father's answer to this question years ago.  He said that for an unregenerated man to spend an eternity in heaven would be worse than hell. But men go to hell of their own accord because they reject the salvation that is freely offered them by God.

I have often heard of people blaming God for the loss of a child or loved one.  They would not think of blaming their master, Satan, the one who brought sorrow and death into the world.  Jesus said that in hell there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.  Yes, there will be sorrow there, and who are they gnashing their teeth at?  Not their master, Satan, but at God.

The great prophet, Ezekiel, wrote,(Ezekiel 33:11) "Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I HAVE NO PLEASURE IN THE DEATH OF THE WICKED, but that the wicked turn from his way and live.  Turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways, for why will ye die, O house of Israel?"  I believe that this God's desire for all men.  His Holy Spirit is here to "reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness and of judgment." John 16:8.  However we also find in God's Word this solemn warning, "he that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy." Proverbs 29:1.

Friend why will you die, when God's love, God's mercy, kindness and grace are daily given you, and the wonderful gift of ETERNAL LIFE is also offered to you free?  All you need to do to receive it is to humbly turn, repent and trust with all your heart in the wonderful Savior, who died for your sins and mine on the cross of Calvary and then arose from death to live forever, even the Lord Jesus Christ.  He is worthy of all our love and thanks and praise for ever.
