The Holy Spirit is our royal telephone. Jesus said, "Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth; for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear that shall he speak.' Then He does not speak of Himself, but only what He hears. Therefore He is our direct communication with headquarters.
When the Holy Spirit called Paul and Barnabas, it was Christ speaking. When He said, "Separate me Barnabas and Saul" to the church at Antioch, He bare a message direct from that church's headquarters. When the Jerusalem church sent its advice to Antioch, in Acts 15:28, they said, "It seemed good to the Holy Ghost and to us." They had received a message from their headquarters.
The Holy Spirit carries our messages to headquarters, "for we know not what we should prey for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." Romans 8:26.
Peter was in prison, but when the little church contacted headquarters, Peter was led out from behind bars. Paul and Silas were in prison, sorely bruised by many stripes, but they contacted headquarters and got to rejoicing, and deliverance came in a mighty way.
This old world needs workers for Christ today. Where will we get them? Telephone the secretary? Jesus said to get in touch with headquarters---"Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest." Matthew 9:38
As I was about sail for China a former schoolmate exclaimed, "Have you successfully contacted some mission board?" He was even more surprised when I told him my only headquarters was in heaven.
God help us in these days to use the royal telephone. It's still working, friends, and answers come round the world. I use it every day.
