X-MAS

They told him all about Christmas,
Of Santa Clause and toys,
And all about the gifts that come
To good little girls and boys.
He learned the songs of sleigh bells
And yule logs on the fire,
He helped to hang the mistletoe
And the highest Christmas star,
He heard Mom and Dad deliberate
On the merits of fir or pine,
He learned what a serious matter is
This tree at Christmas time!
He knew of ornaments and lights,
Of tinsel and of snow,
Of stuff his folks called "angels hair",
There wasn't much he didn't know!
But they hadn't time to tell him
Of the Savior, Virgin born,
And how He died for sinners
And wore the crown of thorn!
They took time to teach of Christmas trees
But no time for the cross;
His Christmas was a huge success,
His soul a total loss!
