It's a pleasure in revival time
When things are going swell
To tell how Jesus bled and died
To save our souls from hell-
When church is shoutin' happy
And the singing fills the air,
What pleasure then to serve the Lord
And lay down all our care!
We can testify and say "Amen!"
And sing till throats are sore;
We can let the preacher "stomp our toes",
And still come back for more!
But when Satan kicks a fuss up,
It's not so easy then
To testify of saving grace
And live apart from sin!
When the service seems to drag a bit
And everyone seems cold,
It's harder then to stand for Christ
And speak His name so bold!
But it's down there in the valley
When others turn away,
We can do our greatest work for Him,
Though it might not seem so gay.
It's not easy in the valley
But this I must relate;
His grace is much more precious then,
Than when things are going great!
