Over the hill of life,
Beyond the great divide,
Across the river and through the vale,
There lays a land so wide!
No clouds nor darkness dim the light
Of its eternal day;
The flowers bloom and never die,
Along each shining way!
No graveyard there, nor funeral hymn
To sadden any heart;
Where friend holds fellowship with friend,
Nevermore to part!
In its fruitful fields no tares will grow!
There's no such word as "sin",
No sickness, harm, nor danger
Can ever enter in!
In this land there is a city
Its streets are purest gold,
Its walls of gleaming jasper,
What glory to behold!
The lamb is the light of that city
And the tree of life is there,
And the river's gently flowing,
And there never falls a tear!
Your passport and your ticket
To this bright promised land
Is yours just for the taking
From the savior's pierced hand.
